Mapping the existing ecosystem of disinformation, information manipulation and platform abuse informs other areas of the work of Kawaakibi Foundation, as well as serving as an early warning system for activists and partner organisations.
- Research & investigations
This includes collaboration with journalists and other organisations in cases where disinformation intersects with other real-world events such as crime and conflict.
- Platform engagement
Working directly with platforms to improve moderation practices and algorithms, detect coordinated inauthentic activity networks and thwart them, and protect those under threat on the platforms
- Education & community outreach
Initiatives to inform the public on how disinformation works, the threat it poses to different groups and to the sociopolitical fabric, and what platforms and authorities can do.
